Do I need my own racket?

Yes, but if you don't have a racket, we can provide one for the sessions. We only ever keep 2 or 3 spare rackets available. If you already own a racket, feel free to bring it along, and we will assess it for your use. Comfortable tennis shoes, suitable trainers and sportswear are recommended.

What level is the Beginner course suitable for?

The Beginner course is ideal if you are completely new to tennis, haven’t played since school, or are returning after a long break. No prior experience is required, we start with the basics and build confidence week by week.

​

What level is "Improver"?

Improvers are players who can already rally a little and keep the ball in play but want more consistency, control and confidence. If you’ve done a beginner course before or play socially but feel stuck, this level is ideal.

What happens if it rains?

Sessions go ahead in most weather conditions. However, if weather or court conditions make play unsafe, or if the club closes the courts, the session will be rescheduled where possible in line with our Terms & Conditions.

Can I miss a week?

Yes, but any sessions missed due to personal reasons cannot be rescheduled or carried forward. We recommend attending all six weeks to get the most benefit from the course.

Do I need to be a member of Kilternan Parish Lawn Tennis Club?

No, club membership is not required for this course. All coaching and court fees are included in the course price.

​

Is this suitable if I'm not very fit?

Yes. The sessions are designed for adults of varying fitness levels. Drills are progressive, with regular breaks, and you're encouraged to work at your own pace. If you have any injuries or medical concerns, please let the coach know in advance.

​

How many players are in each group?

Groups are capped at 12 players maximum over three courts to ensure quality coaching and plenty of hitting time for everyone.

Do I need to book separately for each player?

Yes. Each participant must have their own booking. One subscription or pricing plan covers only one player.

These Terms & Conditions apply to all coaching sessions, courses, clinics, events, and tennis-related services provided by PlayTennis.ie. By booking or participating in any PlayTennis.ie activity, you agree to the following terms.

 

1. Bookings and Payments

 

All participants must complete a booking or registration to take part in PlayTennis.ie activities.

A separate booking is required for each participant unless otherwise stated. A place in a session, course, or event is only confirmed once payment has been successfully completed.

Some group sessions require a minimum number of participants in order to run effectively. If the minimum number is not reached, PlayTennis.ie reserves the right to:

• combine groups

• adjust the session format or duration

• reschedule the session

• cancel the activity

Where cancellation occurs due to insufficient numbers, participants will be offered a rescheduled session, credit, or refund.

Places in sessions are limited. Participants are asked to only book sessions they are reasonably confident they can attend.

 

2. Attendance and Participation

 

Participants are encouraged to arrive 5 minutes before the scheduled start time so sessions can begin promptly.

Late arrivals may miss the warm-up or instructions. Sessions will finish at the scheduled time regardless of late arrival.

Participants must wear appropriate sports clothing and non-marking tennis shoes suitable for court play.

PlayTennis.ie reserves the right to refuse participation where footwear or equipment may damage the courts or present a safety risk.

Participants must comply with the rules and regulations of the venue where the activity takes place.

Participants are responsible for booking sessions appropriate to their playing level where sessions are advertised by ability.

PlayTennis.ie reserves the right to move participants between groups if necessary to maintain session quality or safety.

 

3. Cancellations, Missed Sessions and Refunds

 

If a participant cannot attend a booked session for personal reasons, the session will be forfeited and cannot be rescheduled, transferred, or carried forward unless otherwise stated.

For individual sessions, clinics, workshops, or one-off events, bookings are considered final once confirmed.

As places are limited, no refunds, transfers, or credits are provided for cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled start time, except where required by law.

For longer courses or programmes, cancellations made at least 14 days before the start date may be eligible for a refund minus any non-refundable payment processing fees charged by the payment provider.

Once a course or programme has started, refunds are not provided for unused sessions except where required by law.

If a participant does not attend a booked session and does not notify PlayTennis.ie in advance, the booking will be treated as a no-show and the session will be forfeited.

Where possible, a participant may transfer their place to another player of a similar level by notifying PlayTennis.ie in advance.

 

4. Weather, Schedule Changes and Force Majeure

 

Tennis activities may proceed in most weather conditions, including light rain or wind.

Where weather, court conditions, or venue restrictions make play unsafe or impossible, PlayTennis.ie will attempt to reschedule the affected session where feasible.

PlayTennis.ie reserves the right to adjust schedules, groupings, venues, coaches, or programme formats where necessary to maintain service quality or address operational requirements.

If PlayTennis.ie cancels a session due to coach illness, venue closure, or other operational reasons, we will attempt to offer a rescheduled session or provide a pro-rata credit or refund.

PlayTennis.ie is not responsible for cancellations or interruptions caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control including extreme weather, venue closures, government restrictions, public health events, or other unforeseen events.

 

5. Safety, Conduct and Liability

 

Participants take part in all activities voluntarily and at their own risk. Participants should ensure they are physically fit to participate.

Any injuries, medical conditions, or limitations should be communicated to the coach before the session begins.

All participants are expected to behave respectfully towards coaches, staff, venue personnel, and other players.

PlayTennis.ie reserves the right to remove any participant from a session or event where behaviour is unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate. In such cases, refunds will not be provided.

Participation in sport involves inherent physical risk. PlayTennis.ie, its coaches, and associated venues are not liable for injuries, accidents, or loss or damage to personal belongings except where required by law.

 

6. Photography and Media

 

From time to time photographs or short videos may be taken during sessions, courses, or events for promotional purposes such as use on the PlayTennis.ie website, social media channels, newsletters, or marketing materials.

If you do not wish for your image to be used, please notify the coach or contact PlayTennis.ie.

 

7. Online Conduct and Public Communications

 

Participants agree not to publish online content that is knowingly false, defamatory, abusive, or intended to damage the reputation of PlayTennis.ie, its coaches, venues, or other participants.

Participants are encouraged to contact PlayTennis.ie directly if they have concerns or complaints so that issues can be addressed promptly.

This clause does not limit a participant’s right to share honest feedback or opinions.

 

8. Consumer Rights

 

These Terms & Conditions do not affect your statutory rights under Irish or EU consumer protection law.

1. Bookings and Payment

 

All coaching sessions, courses, clinics, camps, and programmes must be paid in full in advance.

A booking is confirmed only once payment has been successfully processed.

 

2. Individual Sessions, Clinics and Events

 

Bookings for individual sessions, clinics, and events are considered final once confirmed.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled start time are not eligible for a refund.

Where sufficient notice is given, PlayTennis.ie may offer a rescheduled session or credit at its discretion.

Participants may transfer their place to another suitable player with advance notice.

Failure to attend without notice will be treated as a no-show and the session will be forfeited.

 

3. Courses and Programmes

 

Courses and programmes are typically sold as a block of sessions.

Cancellations made at least 14 days before the programme start date may be eligible for a refund minus any non-refundable payment processing fees.

Once a programme has started, refunds are generally not available for unused sessions.

If a refund is granted after the programme has started, PlayTennis.ie may deduct the value of sessions already delivered.

 

4. Cancellations by PlayTennis.ie

 

If PlayTennis.ie cancels a session due to coach illness, unsafe weather, venue closure, or insufficient numbers, we will offer:

• a rescheduled session • a credit • or a refund where rescheduling is not possible

 

5. Weather Conditions

 

Sessions may proceed in light rain or wind.

Where conditions are unsafe, sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled.

Weather-related cancellations are typically handled by rescheduling rather than refunds.

 

6. EU Consumer Cooling-Off Period

 

For online bookings, consumers have a 14-day cooling-off period.

However, if the service begins within this period, you agree that the service may start immediately and therefore waive your right to cancel once it has begun.

 

7. Refund Processing

 

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method and are typically processed within 5–10 working days.

By booking or participating in any PlayTennis.ie coaching session, course, or tennis activity, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

 

1. Physical Activity

 

Tennis is a physical sport that involves running, sudden movements, and the use of sports equipment. Participation may carry a risk of injury.

By participating in PlayTennis.ie activities, you confirm that you are physically fit and able to take part in tennis coaching and related activities.

 

2. Medical Conditions

 

You agree to inform the coach before the session begins if you have any injury, medical condition, or physical limitation that may affect your participation.

PlayTennis.ie coaches are not medical professionals and rely on participants to communicate relevant health information.

 

3. Personal Responsibility

 

You participate in all activities voluntarily and at your own risk. You agree to take reasonable care for your own safety and follow the instructions provided by the coach during sessions.

 

4. Liability

 

PlayTennis.ie, its coaches, and associated venues will take reasonable care to provide a safe coaching environment.

However, PlayTennis.ie will not be held liable for injuries, accidents, or loss of personal belongings that occur during participation except where required by law.

 

5. Acceptance of Risk

 

By completing a booking or attending a session, you acknowledge that you understand the inherent risks associated with participating in sport and physical exercise, and you accept these risks.
